Mitchels competed for the first half against the wind they conceded and easy goal just before the break, Strand Road were a lot sharper in possession and deserved their victory.

Best of luck to Strand Rd going forward representing Kerry.

Pizza, chips, cake and Taytos were the order of the day as the end of season party took place this evening for our u14 girls.

They received their North Kerry winner’s medals from Kerry Senior and our own Anna Stack, what a brilliant year it has been for our girls, we lost two finals and won one, so this evening was a celebration of all the hard work and dedication shown by them throughout the year.

Special thanks to O’Mahony’s Bakery for the lovely cake.

Thanks to Anna for presenting the medals and who spoke so passionately to our girls about the importance of football in life and to keep going.

We say a huge thanks to the parents for their commitment throughout the year and last but not least to our mentors Denis, Padraig, John, Karen and Eric who have instilled the Mitchels spirit in these girls and who showed them that hard work and having fun is really what it’s all about here in John Mitchels.

We also say best of luck to the girls who are moving up to the u16s.

The U13 B took on local rivals Na Gaeil on Sunday afternoon in the Town League Division 3 Final in Ballyseedy.

The wet conditions were very challenging for both teams, with John Mitchels playing into a strong breeze in the first half.

Despite the conditions, both teams played some great football and traded scores to finish the first half level on three points apiece.

Taking advantage of playing with the wind in the second half, the Mitchels boys went into the lead by scoring 1-1 before their opponents registered their first point of the second half.

Given the conditions scoring opportunities were not easy to come by. But the Mitchels team dug deep and added a further 1-3 to Na Gaeil’s 1-2, to finish victorious on a final score line of 2-7 to 1-6.

This was this team’s third final and third victory this year; having already won their County League and Central League finals. It was an amazing achievement by a very dedicated and talented team of young footballers.

Their commitment throughout the year has been exemplary and they are a credit to the John Mitchels club and their families.
