SENIOR LADIES
Our senior ladies completed their last round game in the Donal Curtin Cup last Monday night v Glenflesk in ballyseedy
This was in fact a quarter final game
To describe the conditions as a deluge is fairly close to the weather conditions but to be fair to both teams they played
With total commitment in extremely difficult wind and rain, Mitchels started brightly with the strong wind and an early point from Rachel Kilgallen followed by a Goal from Ava Buckley
With further points from Linda O Connor and Rachel, Ava and Emma Lynch kept the score moving, with Ashleigh Murphy and Sarah Kilgallen doing Trojan work at midfield we lead at the
Short whistle 1-8 to 1-1.
Facing into a now gale force wind we dug deep from Kayleigh Collins in Goals very sharp, Tamya O Connor and Emma Carmody steady at full backs we continued to press
And a further point from Emma Lynch pushed out our lead, Glenflesk never gave up and added a second goal mid way through, Lucie O Donoghue, Shannon Martin
and Lauren Smullen were now on top in the half back line Ably assisted By Sophie O Donoghue and Lilly Silong. Glenflesk added 2 more points but
Mitchels held out heroically
To win by 1-12 to 2-3.
Full credit must go to both teams for giving a top display in atrocious conditions,
Mitchels now qualify for the Semi Final v Dingle or Rathmore we are awaiting confirmation of same.
Well done to all and referee Mike Walsh.
We have a number of North Kerry league games to play as well over the coming weeks with
the county Championship. Starting on August 8th.
UNDER 17 BOYS
Our minors had their Central League Semi Final Monday night at home v Glenbeigh Glencar Cromane which ended in a draw.
Two points down at half time in terrible conditions our lads did very well in the second half against the wind to force a draw and replay 7pm Monday night in Glenbeigh.

U14 GIRLS
John Mitchels u14 girls were due to play Legion in the County League on Friday last in a rescheduled game.
However, Legion were unable to field a team and conceded the points leaving the team in a good position going into the last 2 games of the League.
Next up for the team is a game away to Ballymacelligott on Saturday next at 6pm.
UNDER 13 BOYS
On Tuesday our U13 A Team lined out against Keel/Listry in the County League Div 1 Final. The game was held in the Austin Stacks Park in front of a large crowd who witnessed two teams going at it hammer and tongs from the first minute to the last. We had three goals in the first half courtesy of Calvin O Sullivan (2) and Adrian Molloy, but Keel Listry never panicked and kept chipping away at our lead.
The second half saw us with plenty of scoring opportunities, but the goals and points were just not happening for us, as Keel Listry’s defence held tough to win the day. In the end it was absolute heartbreak for our boys as they were defeated by Keel Listry 3-9 to 3-7.
However, the boys should take heart in the fine display of football they gave, in what was a pulsating game played by two fine teams.
It was also a pleasure for everybody in the club to see the Green and Gold of John Mitchels play in a League Final in Tralee’s Austin Stack Park – it’s a night that will live long in the memory of those who were in the stadium that evening!
Following the heartbreak of Tuesday evening’s loss, the U13 B Team took to the field in Milltown the following Sunday to contest the County League Div 13 Final against Laune Rangers.
The opposition were out of the blocks very quickly banging in some early goals leaving us somewhat shell-shocked and at one stage 10 points down!
Despite this, we kept our composure and our players didn’t panic. We chipped away at the Rangers lead with vital goals coming in each half and some lovely point scoring, together with some absolutely superb defending by the Mitchels backs in the second half. Both teams gave it everything but Mitchels came on top by the narrowest of margins: 1 point.
The final score was John Mitchels 3-15 Laune Rangers 5-8. There were jubilant scenes after the match as captain Dylan Sheridan accepted the League trophy on behalf of the team.
Sunday’s game marked the end of the County League campaign for the U13 teams. We still have the completion of the Town League, as well as the Central League, to look forward to.
We are currently waiting on the details of these two competitions, so we will give the boys some well deserved rest over the next week or two. However, we will get back to training soon, so keep an eye out for times and dates.
In the meantime, enjoy the rest – both teams deserve it! All the boys have trained very hard since last February and the Club is very proud of what they have achieved. Congratulations as well to all the boys’ families, and thank you for your patience and help throughout the two league campaigns!
U12 Girls
The u12 girls trained on Sunday morning, they may have had a low number turnout for training due to the Kerry match, but they didn’t let the weather dampen their spirits as they were eager to continue with training in preparation for their upcoming county final against duagh.
The improvement in the girls is very clear to see as they grow with confidence with every training session & competing in matches. The bond they have formed as a team is incredible to see. The coaches are extremely proud of all the girls in everything they have achieved so far and have no doubt there is still more to come.
Sunday saw the girl’s face Duagh in the county final .Grace O Regan captained the girls . Unfortunately it wasn’t Mitchels day. The girls put in a tremendous effort but duagh was too strong. Congratulations to Duagh girls.
Training continues Wednesday 7-8
