JUNIORS

Our Junior team played Ballymac in the town league final last Saturday evening. First half was a tight affair with both defence on top, just coming up on half time Ballymac got a fortunate goal. Second half was a tough battle with the lads trying to break through the Ballymac defence & unlucky not to get a goal or two.

Final score Ballymac 2-7 Mitchels 0-4 pts. Kieran Sean & Colin would like to thank the lads for their commitment over the year & without doubt there are bright futures ahead for the lads with both Junior & Senior Teams so well done to all.

On the evening we presented three of the players with special awards: Steven Bowler was the recipient of the “Player of the Year”, Danny Bowler,  “Young Player of the Yea”r & Graham Higgins got goal of the year.

U16 GIRLS

U16 ladies were in action on Thursday evening against Finuge in round 2 of the North Kerry league. The two sides put on a great show for their supporters in a great game of football. The away side withstood a lot of second half pressure from John Mitchels to take the win. Final scoreJ Mitchels 1-04 Finuge 2-05.

Mitchels u16 girls are in action again this Tuesday, 4th Oct at 6.30pm in Tralee, when they take on Castlegregory in a replay of an abandoned fixture from three weeks ago. All support is greatly appreciated.

UNDER 15 BOYS

On Wednesday last we played Listowel Emmet’s in a friendly match in preparation for our upcoming Central League final. With some absentees we played reasonably well with a lot of players putting their hands up for positions on the team. The final is fixed for Sunday venue to be confirmed. We train this week Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5-30pm and full attendance is required.

U14 GIRLS

Monday night saw a local derby in the Tralee Town League when John Mitchels u14s travelled to Connolly Park to take on Austin Stacks. With a number of key players out, it was a tough challenge against a strong Stacks team.

And despite a bright start, the home team got into the scoring act with ten minutes gone and dominated the rest of the half, with some handling errors and mistakes being punished by a direct Stacks side.

The second half saw a much-improved performance from Mitchels and despite Austin Stacks running out comfortable winners, the team will take heart from a strong second half. The girls are out again on Thursday night against Na Gaeil and also have a North Kerry semi-final to look forward to the week after.

UNDER 13 BOYS

Our under 13 boys played Na Gael in the Town League Final on Sunday in O’Rahillys. Despite a spirited performance, the final was won by Na Gael. All in the club would like to thank the players involved in this team for their commitment all season and for the manner in which they represented the club.

The team reached 3 finals and won the Rose Cup and their future is bright. There are still a number of outstanding fixtures for our second Under 13 team, with details to follow.

U12 Girls

The under 12s played the Tralee town league final on Sunday at home In Ballyseedy and after a cracking game, that had periods of end-to-end football we came away with a draw.

Thanks to everyone who came and supported the girls. We will train this week on Wednesday evening at 7pm in preparation for the replay.

UNDER 11 BOYS

Our U10 boys played in the Miltown Castlemaine U10 blitz on Sunday.

On what was a great day for football our boy’s finished 2nd in their group having beaten Kilcummin  and Crokes and lost out by a single point to Na Gaeil who got a last-minute goal. We still progressed to the cup semifinal against Listry.

In a fantastic game of football which was nip and tuck throughout, we drew level with a great goal in the last minute only for Listry to go back up the field and kick an unbelievable point to win the game.

All the boys were heartbroken having given everything. We as coaches are very proud of your performances in the blitz and throughout the year. A special thank you to the organizers of the blitz, which was run to perfection.

U8/U10/GIRLS

The under 8s and 10 girls had a fantastic training session taken by Coaching Officer Thomas Kearns on a fabulous Sunday morning. Thomas got the ball rolling with a fun ice breaker game to get the girls tuned in and interacting well.

The second drill they worked on was a defensive drill and also soloing the ball. The squad worked well together as a team and were tuned in from start to finish.Next was back to basics and kicking skills which all the girls thoroughly enjoyed.

The training secession ended with two mini games between both u 8 and u10 girls. We would like to say a huge thanks to Thomas Kearns who gave a fresh and fun session to the players.

There won’t be any training next Sunday as the Mitchel’s social will be held on Saturday. The famous Sylvie Mason blitz will be held the following Sunday for all Juveniles. Parents will be informed by whats app in the coming week.

UNDER 9 BOYS

John Mitchels second year U9 Boys competed in the Annual Milltown/Castlemaine blitz on Sunday last. We played four games, first up was Killcummin then Dr Crokes & then Na Gael & we qualified for the shield semi-final where we were narrowly beaten by Rathmore. Well done to Milltown/Castlemaine on running a fantastic Blitz & we look forward to returning next year again.

UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

We trained in lovely conditions Sunday in our Ballyseedy complex. The boys and girls put in a fantastic performance with particular emphasis on the skill of kicking today.

The solo and hop is improving weekly, and the boys and girls should be proud of their improvement to date.  Training continues next Sunday at 10.30.
