John Mitchels Juvenile Night
There was a huge turn-out at the John Mitchels Complex in Ballyseedy on Friday evening as the juvenile girls and boys teams turned out for a Celebration Evening to recognize the success of the juvenile club across all age groups.
In a well-arranged evening, MC Brian Hurley and Club Chairperson Bríd McElligott recognized the teams who brought honour to the club on playing fields across the county.
The exploits of the teams were played out on the big screen, narrated by RTE’s Jacqui Hurley, before each of the teams were presented to the large audience of friends, family and club members.
Bríd McElligott welcomed each team onto the stage, before the mentors and special guests, including Kerry Senior Ladies Player Emma Costello, presented them with their medals along with senior players Ava Buckley and Anna Stack.
A special word of thanks must go to the Senior Mens Team, led by Captain Mikey Walsh, who presented medals to the successful boys u15 team, who defeated Laune Rangers in the u15 Central League Final.
A word of thanks too to the Mitchels u16 ladies team who helped out on the night and were thanked by the Club Chairperson.
Also honoured on the night were the boys u11, boys u13 treble winning team and the girls u14 Green and Gold Teams, who all captured County and Central League titles.
Following the presentation of all teams, the formal part of the evening ended and the rest of the evening saw time for a cup of tea, some food, kindly supplied by club sponsors Gallys and plenty of story-telling and reminiscing.
Great credit must go to the organizing committee, including Bríd, Brian Nammock, Rory Kilgallon, Mark McEvoy, Fergus Foley, and the many volunteers who helped out on the night to make it such a success, including Noreen Noonan, ClaIre Connolly, Karen White, Joanne Noonan, Sinead Corkery, Aisling Foley, Tara Cullinan and many more.
The night really demonstrated the huge work that goes into a successful club, particularly at juvenile level, from coaching to administration to volunteering at club. And it showed the huge support that all the teams get from parents, friends and family.
