Thanks to all of the players, their parents and our supporters who took part in the St. Patrick’s Day parade. A special word of thanks to all who were involved in organising the parade on behalf of the club, especially Club Juvenile Chair Mark McEvoy.

Minors

The minors played Currow on Thursday at home, where the pitch was very heavy and tough on the legs, but a great team performance seen us win by a single point for the first 2pts in the county league.

We played Saturday at home against Churchill which was a tough ask 2 days after the Currow game. The legs were heavy and despite a great effort by the team, it was Churchills day. Our next game is against Dingle on Monday 27th March. Further details to follow.

Under 16 Girls

The girls had a great session this week focusing on game play scenario’s switching with backs & forwards. We go again this week with Training Monday 7-8 & Friday 8-9. We welcome new & past players to come give it a try.

Under 15 Boys

Training continues every Wednesday and Friday evening 6-7, with any changes to be notified via the parents whatsapp group. With the league starting the 29th of March preparation by all of the team is vital. Our first game sees us away to Laune Rangers in Killorglin.

U14 Girls

John Mitchels 6-9
Spa 1-0

John Mitchels u14 girls had their first competitive game of the season in Ballyseedy last Sunday at 1pm, when they took on Spa of Killarney in a damp day, in the u14 County League.

We are delighted to have enough players to be able to enter 2 teams in this league and it was the Division 7 team in action on Sunday, with the Division 8 team having a bye this week.

It turned out to be a strong team that took part and after some early efforts went astray, the pressure began to tell when Ciara Harris goaled, and this was quickly followed up by a point from Kerri Falvey and another goal from Amy Noonan.

Our defence was operating strongly, with our half-back line in particular pushing up hard and shutting down space for Spa to work the ball out of defence.

Laoise O’Sullivan, Rhianna O’Brien and Nicole Hennig were outstanding on the day, and made life much easier for our full-back line of Katelyn Laide, Sadhbh Corkery and captain Gia Sharma.

Spa rallied and after a goal from Claudia Duffin for Mitchels, they put us under some pressure, scoring a goal of their own before Hannah Roche rounded off the half with a point to make it 3-2 to 1-0 to Mitchels at the break.

The second half saw a number of changes made, but it continued to be Mitchels dominating, especially around midfield, where Ella McCannon, Amy Noonan and later on, Natalia Hennig were dominant on the ball.

Two early points from Caoimhe Nammock stretched the lead, with another form Ciara Harris before three goals in a row, one from Kerry Fialvey and 2 from Caoimhe Nammock, pushed Mitchels into a strong lead.

The half-forward line of Tara Dowling, Kerri Falvey and Claudia Duffin were proving to be a complete nuisance, winning ball, pressing forward into attack and really attacking the Spa defence and gave them no rest.

The players continued to push and late points from Kerri Falvey, Caoimhe Nammock (2) and Dionne Rogers ended the game with a comfortable Mitchels win.

It was a well-deserved win and the benefits of the Strength and Conditioning program run by the club over the winter months were shown today, with the girls first to the ball, full of running and determined to see the team to victory.

Team: Grace O’Regan, Katelyn Laide, Sadhbh Corkery, Gia Sharma, Nicole Hennig, Rhianna O’Brien, Laoise O’Sullivan, Amy Noonan, Ella McCannon, Tara Dowling, Kerri Falvey, Claudia Duffin, Dionne Rogers, Kelly O’Sullivan, Ciara Harris

Substitutes: Hannah Roche, Faye Moloney, Alannah Doody, Caoimhe Lennon, Caoimhe Nammock, Aine Dowling, Kayla Kirwan, Natalia Hennig

Under 13 Boys

Congrats to John Mitchels on a hard-fought win against Austin Stacks team in terrible conditions. A final score of 2:07 to 0:08 does not reflect the efforts of both forward lines as there was no easy ball won.

Our midfield battled from start to finish and kept the team moving forward, and our backs kept us in contention when scores were hard to come by for the forwards.

The whole team should be proud of themselves because a hard-fought win will serve them more in the challenges to come. Sunday 26th of March sees the Gold team in division 9 are away to Legion followed by the Green team division 1 at 7pm

Under 12 Girls

A great turn out again at our 2 sessions this week, where we welcomed Mairead , Jessica, Emma and Zoe to the team.

Under 8 and 10 Girls

Our u8 & u10 girls braved the weather at training today. In cool and damp conditions, the girls did their best in picking, passing and kicking drills. Thanks to Senior Ladies footballers Julie and Sarah for their help.

Everyone had great fun with some fantastic skills on display and we are looking forward to next Sunday morning’s training. Training next Sunday at 9.45am sharp. New players always welcome.
