UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS
We trained indoors Sunday morning and the boys and girls went at training with great enthusiasm. We had a session led by our young superstars where they picked the drills and games played. The coaches were worn out by stuck in the mud and tag. Some great solo skills and kicking were evident. We train again Sunday morning at 11am. As ever new members are always welcome.
U8/U10/GIRLS
We hosted Na Gaeil on Sunday morning last. Nearly 30 girls took to the field for a series of high-quality games. We had 10 girls from the u7s and they were an excellent addition to the squad for the morning and their coaches can be very proud of them.
We would like to thank all the parents who stayed to cheer the girls on its great for their confidence. Finally, thanks to Na Gaeil for a very sporting friendly game.Training as ever Sunday at 11 am in Ballyseedy. New members always welcome
U12 GIRLS
We had two matches this week, we played Strand Road on Wednesday under very tough conditions, and we finished up with a good win. On Sunday we played Knock/Brosna, however on this occasion our opponents proved stronger.
We will learn a lot from this defeat. Training will be on again this Wednesday at 6. Thanks all for your effort and commitment. We have a bye next week so our next game is Wednesday 10th April more details to follow
U14 GIRLS
John Mitchels u-14 girls played their second game of the week on Sunday afternoon when they travelled to Ballyduff in their County League competition.
Despite being without a number of key players, the team put up a good showing. Playing with the aid of a stiff wind in the first half, we struggled against a strong Ballyduff defence with only a goal from Dianne to show for our efforts.
With the wind against us it was a difficult second half, but the defence showed a huge effort to keep Ballyduff out, but the home team ran out winners.
This followed on from an exciting last-minute victory in the League over Listowel Emmets B in Ballyseedy the previous Monday night on a scoreline of 3-6 to 3-4.
Despite shipping some early scores, which put us on the back foot, the team settled after the first water break and a goal by Kerri Falvey brought the team back into the game, ensuring they were still in touch at the half-time break.
Mitchels upped the pressure in the second half, with the midfield duo of Brigid Stewart and Ellie O’Rahilly driving forward, and scores from Megan Noonan, Grace Hogan, Kerri Falvey and Brigid Stewart pushed us ahead.
A late Listowel Emmets goal threatened to undo all the hard work, but late in the game, as we pushed forward, Kerri Falvey hit a beautiful dipping shot into the top corner of the net to push us 2 points clear as the final whistle went. A fantastic victory and huge reward for the effort put in by the girls, who gave their all on the night.
Team:
Grace O’Regan, Gia Sharma, Sadhbh Corkery, Isabel Tynan, Laoise O’Sullivan, Ava Sharma, Nicole Hennig, Brigid Stewart, Ellie Rahilly, Nadya Rivas McHugh, Kerri Falvey, Kelly O’Sullivan, Dionne Rogers, Chloe O’Brien, Ella McCannon.
Substitutes: Ellie Reidy, Eabha Mullen, Faye Moloney, Claudia Duffin, Megan Noonan, Ella Dennehy. Grace Hogan.
U16 GIRLS
A home win over Currow on Tuesday night sees JohnMitchel’s U16 ladies with two wins from three games in County league Div 5. Currow gave a really good account of themselves on the night but the home team proved they had more than enough to secure the victory.
Final score on the night:
J Mitchels 4-10 Currow 2-05
Training continues Fridays 7.00-8.00pm at J Mitchels complex, Ballyseedy, all welcome.
Next game May 5th home to Cahersiveen

John Mitchels U9 boys hosted N Gaeil on Sunday last for a non-competitive Go Games. Both sides had good numbers which meant more teams and more football. The games were very competitive with some great defending and scoring from both sides.

UNDER 11 BOYS
We had Tom Joy from the County board take our session this Sunday morning. The players really enjoyed the session and it was a break from them listening to the normal coaches!
Tom worked on the fundamentals of the game and followed it up with some game-based drills, we finished out with 2 highly competitive games. Big thank you to Tom Joy and to all the kids. We are at home to Dr Crokes this Thursday at 6.30 pm please show your support.
UNDER 13 BOYS
It was a quiet week for our A team this week as our game v Legion A was refixed to Wednesday, April 20th.
Meanwhile our Bs travelled to Legion on Sunday evening following a great display against Laune Rangers in the 1st round of the county league. Playing with the wind in the first half, our lads gathered plenty of possession but were finding it difficult to convert to scores against a tight Legion defence.
A goal slightly against the run of play put Legion into a3 -point lead at the break while at the under end we were unfortunate not to raise a green flag, only a goal line clearance denying us.
The 2nd half proved tough for the Bs but they battled hard right to the end, playing some lovely football and being unlucky not to add a few more scores for their efforts. Congrats to Legion on their win and well done to our boys.
This Thursday our As face Spa Killarney at home in the County League, throw-in at 7pm. All support is welcome. Training will be on Tuesday at 5.45pm due to the refixed game. No fixtures next Sunday for the A’s or B’s.

UNDER 15 BOYS
On Wednesday evening last we hosted Keel/Listry in our second game of the season in division 1. In the first half we played against a very strong wind with some great defending by our back line and plenty of work all over the pitch we trailed by only 6pts at half time in the second half.
We took control of the game from the get go with every player doing great work all over the pitch only 1 sub was used late on in the game because every player on the night were outstanding with the final score of John Mitchel’s 1-10 Keel/Listry 1-8.

Mitchels made a huge reaction in second half with James Duggan scoring a big point from the throw in.
Mitchels upped the energy and rallied bringing the score line to Beaufort 1-8 John Mitchel’s 9pts eleven minutes into second half proceedings.
