County League -Div 6
county league round 1

Beaufort 1 05
John Mitchel’s 2 03

Well done boys and especially to our goal scorers Cian Barden and Cathal O Sullivan with Cian Sheridan, Cian O Brien, Ciaran Killeen scoring our points

County League Division 1 Round 1

John Mitchel’s 2-10

Spa 2-12

Played in tough conditions and decimated with injuries John Mitchel’s fought back against a gale in the second half to be narrowly defeated by a very strong Spa side who had Kerry u20 Evan Cronin (4 points) and who sprung Liam Kearney from the bench to help close out the game. Stan Donoghue scored 1-1 with Michael Foley also contributing 3 excellent points for the visitors.

At one stage it was looking ominous as Mitchel’s struggled with the wind and Spa’s movement off the ball however in the last few minutes we rallied and well done Tyrese Flaherty who punched the ball to the net in the closing stages of the game after some excellent interplay and hand passing up the field from our boys.

Right at the death Niall Sheehy netted an absolute belter from a 14-yard free to leave just two in it however it was too little too late for us as the ref blew the full-time whistle from the kick out

Best for Mitchel’s were Thomas Kearns who ran at the Spa defense numerous times drawing frees almost every time and Niall Sheehy who kicked 1-5 all from frees and some against the hurricane wind with the dead ball. Shane Connor Ciaran Deane and George Bastable also chipping in with scores.

We also say best wishes to Stephen Bowler who injured his knee and had to be carried from the field of play just before half time

The two black cards (one for each team) had a huge bearing as both teams made hay however Spa good value for victory

In association with saint Vincent de Paul, there is now a clothes collection bin on site at John Mitchel’s Complex in Ballyseedy so please donate any unwanted clothes and textiles (clean re-wearable clothes, paired shoes, curtains, and towels). All donations are much appreciated.
